When the Net Feels Like Home

On the autumn evening of October 16th, both Varsity and Junior-Varsity soccer achieved victories against Marysville Getchell High School without being scored upon in either game.

In the Junior Varsity match that began at 5:30 P.M., the first goal was scored by Gia Tift #20 ‘18, twenty minutes into the first half, after many offensive and defensive pushes. Competition ensued until 8 minutes into the second half, when the second goal was scored by #3, Jamie Farrar ‘17. With high spirits for Arlington, it took only 3 minutes to score another goal, sent to the net by #10 Chanel Thompson ’16. The crowd fell silent near the center of the match when #14 Sara Jones ‘18 received an on-field injury. Reviving the spirit of the team and the crowd, #4 Hailee Wrzesinski ‘18 scored the fourth and final goal to finish the game 4-0, Arlington.

The girls’ Varsity Soccer game began at 7:30 P.M., and it took three minutes for #4 forward player Bre Morren ‘15 to score her first of multiple goals. Time passed in the first half with little progression on both side. Fourteen minutes after her first goal, Morren“The Pinball Wizard” shot the ball for her second goal of the game, dividing the score 2-0 with nearly a quarter of the game complete. Continuing this trend, Morren scored her third and final goal three minutes later, completing a successful hat-trick. As time made its way to the second half of the game, Arlington held the lead 3-0. Scoring Arlington’s fourth goal, #18 Olivia Larson ‘16 was assisted by #17, Kaylee Bartley ‘15. The game progressed for thirteen minutes until Bartley scored the fifth and final goal of the match, ending the game 5-0 Arlington.
