Chuck Randall Relay Preview

This coming Saturday your Eagles Track and Field team has their first meet at home. It is the Chuck Randall relay named after former coach Mr. Randall. Randall had a thirty year coaching career; clearly deserving an annual relay to honor his contribution. This meet features all types of Relays. There are the basic 4×100 and 4×400, but there are also more rare events, such as the Sprint Medley Relay and the Distance Medley Relay. The Sprint Medley consists of 2 100s, followed by a 200, and finishes with a 400. Then, for the Distance Medley Relay, teams race a 1200 (3 laps), a 400 (1 lap), an 800 (2 laps), and a 1600 (4 laps).

One of the rarest events included is the throwers relay. They will be doing a 4×100 relay. Senior Captain, Carl Kulper, has participated in this relay 2 years in a row and will be competing again this year. He says that he looks forward to it because “it is fun and is the only time I get to run.”

For all of the Throwing and jumping events the top three distances will be added together and then that will be the relay finish. And the other 2 events will be the open 100, featuring each schools top 100 meter runner, and the open mile, featuring the teams top milers.

The meet will be starting at 10 o’clock Saturday morning and concluding around 3 in the afternon. Come out and support your Eagles.
