JV Football Arlington vs Oak Harbor
Arlington JV vs Oak Harbor
With Arlington coming into the game with only one loss on the season, there was high hopes for this competitive game against Oak Harbor’s JV Football team. The game started off with the Oak Harbor Wildcats taking a 3-0 lead during a quick opening drive that resulted in a field goal. Following the opening drive by the Oak Harbor offense, the Eagles were eager to get to work. On the first play of the Eagles opening drive, Arlington ran a trick play, a pitch to the running back and throw to a receiver, which resulted in a 60-yard touchdown reception by Junior receiver Ryley Nelson, putting Arlington up 6-3 after a missed PAT. The Arlington defense shut down the Wildcat’s offense throughout the rest of the 1st and 2nd quarter, containing their run game with a very good effort from the Eagle linebackers. With 6.5 seconds to go in the first half, Gabe Green threw a 21 yard touchdown to Ryley Nelson, giving him his second touchdown reception in the game, and pushing the Arlington ahead 14-3. The second half changed the feeling of the game. The wildcats came out of locker room hoping to make the game a lot closer than the current score, and they did just that. With a 15 yard touchdown reception, and a failed 2 point conversion attempt, Oak Harbor brought the score to 14-9. The game stayed close until three minutes into the final quarter when Junior defensive back Parker Spady intercepted an Oak Harbor pass and returned it for a 14-yard touchdown, bringing the score to 21-9 with 9 minutes to go in the game. A quick 3 and out for the wildcats resulted in another drive for the Eagles, who capitalized by putting the ball in the hands of their powerhouse Sophmore running back, Devin Nutter, who marched the ball up the field and ran in a 3-yard touchdown to seal the win for the Eagles with the final score being 28-9.
