The holiday season is special for a lot of Arlington families, especially members of AHS. Many students at Arlington enjoy spending the time with family, like sophomore Dalton Reischman.

“I go to my grandma’s house,” said Reischman. “Everyone brings a present, and then you draw a number and everyone gets that present.”

Senior Cassie Hageman also enjoys spending time with her family.

“We go around Gleneagle and we look at all the Christmas lights,” said Hageman. She also said that her family keeps up with old traditions, and they still set milk and cookies out for Santa, and carrots for his reindeer.

Junior Lydia Catalini celebrates Hanukkah, even though she and her family are not Jewish, due to their religious beliefs.

“It works more for our family,” said Catalini.”[There’s] a lot of bread involved.”

But the holidays take on a special meaning for senior Courtney Freeman and her family. Along with the fact that her sister is coming home from the army with her new baby nephew, Christmas stands as a remembrance of Freeman’s grandfather.

“His favorite holiday was Christmas,” said Freeman. “We put bells on my grandpa’s headstone.  My grandma says that she sees a little bit of my grandfather in me.”
