Last Thursday, the Lady Eagles took on the Stanwood Spartans in a District playoff game with a victory, 64-45.

The Eagles had a rocky start finishing the first quarter with a one-point lead over the Spartans, but widened their lead in the second quarter and held it through the end of the game. Top scorer for the game, Jess Ludwig ‘15 had a total of 16 points and close behind her, Gracie Castaneda ‘16 scored 13 points.

In the second half, the Eagles continued to dominate as Serafina Balderas ‘16 had a three-pointer and Sevi Bielser ‘16 made two three-pointers, continuing their lead against the Spartans. In the fourth quarter, Balderas continued her three-point shooting game by making 2 more and help push the Lady Eagles to victory.

Jayla Russ ‘16 had 8 points; Sarah Shortt ‘16 had 3 points as well as Brittany DeNike ‘15. And the Lady Eagles shot 35% from the free-throw line showing they didn’t need it to help their victory.


The girls play on Saturday, February 28th, at Jackson High School at 2:30 p.m.
