The JV and freshmen volleyball teams cheer on the varsity girls before the start of their game against MPHS on October 29th.

During the fall each sports program found success both individually and as a team. The Volleyball team enjoyed their first winning season in 18 years, falling just short of state, yet setting the program up for profound success in the future. Cross Country sent both their Boys and Girls teams to state, finishing 4th and 15th respectively. Coming off a strong 2013 season, the Girls soccer team didn’t skip a beat, making it to the state tournament with a truly remarkable season. The boys tennis team had individual success, with Jesse Vaughn(12) and Connor Ghirado(12) leading the pack into Regionals. An always strong football team didn’t let us down, making a strong push into the playoffs. All League selections were scattered with Arlington athletes, something that was sure to make Tom Roys, the Athletic Director, happy. “Pretty proud of the kids and coaches. It is a product of good people at the helm and kids working hard. Lets keep it up in the winter and spring” Roys said. Also, when asked if he expected sports to remain a dominant force, he said, “I think so, our soccer girls are young. Volleyball has stepped up and we are excited. Football is always strong, Cross Country had phenomenal success, we expect it all to continue.” Walking through the halls you could sense the excitement around sports at school. When asked if it was a fun time to be an athlete at AHS, Noah Andal(12) said, “Yeah definitely, its the first time its happened in awhile with all of the success. I tried to make it to as many games as I could for other sports, lots of cheering, it was fun.” Andal was quick to mention how prepared the football team will be entering next year, “We had 17 seniors this year and 24-25 juniors. So at least 20 returning players will be back to Varsity next year and they are all dedicated, they had success and want it.” The success in the fall this year won’t be a one time thing, it should be repeated well into the future.
