Hannah and Jeni are doing the morning announcements in Mr. Heinz’s office on Monday, Sept. 22nd 2014.

Every weekday at 8:00am sharp, the students at Arlington High School have turned their attention to several bright announcers, but, how many of those students actually know who they are? Well, this year, these great speakers are Jeni Larson and Hannah Scarth, two seniors here at AHS. Some may ask why they get the responsibility of doing the morning announcements. For those who don’t know, these girls are two of the ASB officers at Arlington High. Jeni is the spirited Public Relations Manager and Hannah is the fantastic President. Between these two, everyone gets a good inside look at AHS events every single morning.

Hannah Scarth:

Q: Did you get nervous doing them the first time?

A: No because I like to talk to people.

Q: Do you truly feel you’re covering relevant things? Anything different you feel you should cover?

A: I think we do a good job. I recognize not every club gets heard but we try to reach out to as many as possible.

Q: Does it get old doing them everyday? What would you change about it?

A: No, I like spicing it up, adding jokes, being loud and having fun with it.

Jeni Larson:

Q: Did you get nervous doing them the first time?

A: I was so nervous I was shaking! But I was nervous because I genuinely care about the announcements and their content.

Q: Do you feel you’re getting listened to? Is this an effective way to spread information?

A: Of course I know not everyone listens to the morning announcements. Those who want to listen will and those who don’t wont.

Q: Does it get old doing them every day? What would you change about it?

A: The Jeni and Hannah show never gets old. We love doing the announcements and I’m always looking for new ways to spice them up.

Q: Who writes the morning announcements and approves what goes in them?

A: I write all the announcements the night before we broadcast them. I gather the information from the school calendar, talking to club presidents, and events we do in leadership.

Because of these two girls, the morning announcements are a huge success. They grab our attention and let us know exactly what’s happening in the school. If you’re ever in any need of information be sure to tune in each day to hear the breaking news of AHS.
