New Years Resolutions for 2017

As 2017 comes to a close, it is usually a time to reflect on the past year. Reminisce the good times spent with the people you love, doing what you love, and remembering January 1st of the last year when you told yourself that you would actually STICK with your New Year’s resolutions this year…everyone knows that almost never happens, right?

December Brickey (‘20) said that her New Year’s resolutions were to start eating healthier and to drink more water. When it came to eating healthier, “I did for the first 3 months and then stopped.” She set that goal for herself so she could feel better because she was feeling sick a lot, so she thought that this would help with that issue. As for drinking water, she said “I started carrying a water bottle around.” She made this one of her resolutions because she “wanted to have more energy for dance.”

“I took a road trip with my dad and my brother to Oregon to see the eclipse, my mom and I went to California for the weekend, and I went to LA with my dance team.” These were her three most favorite memories from 2017, which she said “was a very good year; I met a lot of people.”

Some of her goals for this year are to keep her grades up and to travel more. She feels like this will make her 2018 even better than this past year.

Cade Younger (‘20) also had some goals for himself for this past year. He wanted to place in state for track, and run under 50 seconds in the 400 meter dash. He also wanted to be on varsity for football, which did actually happen!

Overall, Younger said his year was “great! School is going really well, I got my license, and I met lots of nice people.”

For this upcoming year, Younger wants to get a 4.0 GPA at least one semester, and get in contact with D1 school for track.

2017 was a year to remember…well, for some of us; others, not so much. All you can do is take what you learned this year, and the experiences that you went through, and use them to only improve 2018. I hope that everyone had an amazing year, and I wish you the best for 2018.
