The holiday season, it’s suppose be a time we can remember and have memories with family. Theres still those precious memories, but some parents decide to stop celebrating when their kid(s) become a certain age. Luckily, there are still plenty of families whose parents still celebrate Christmas with their kids.

Some parents like Ian Catalini’s have stopped celebrating Christmas for many different reasons. “It definitely took a toll on me because i didn’t know what was going on,” said Catalini (20’).

“I do know for sure that when I’m older and have my own kids we will celebrate Christmas definitely. It’s a great tradition in my opinion and I don’t want to be like my parents”, Ian said.

He explained that he feels that the holidays bring family together and bring good friend and family time as well as memories.

Another sophomore, Ellie Erken (20’) has a different story. She has never stopped celebrating Christmas with her family because it’s such a huge tradition for her.

“As a tradition each year, my family and I go to my nana’s house to make cookies. We also go to my great grandma’s with the whole family which consists of about 40 people total,” Erken explained. She told us that her favorite part of Christmas was having breakfast at her nana’s house.

Government and AP Euro teacher Jay Schilaty told us that for him and his family, Christmas is huge during the whole month of December. “We’re traditional people during the Holidays,” he explained.

“For us Christmas is special because it’s a time for family and the birth of Jesus.” Christmas is a huge holiday for people like Schilaty and Ellie due to traditions or religious purposes.

Christmas itself can mean completely different things for many different families. And there are even some families who celebrate Hanukkah or other holidays.
