Passion for the Powder
From Stevens Pass to Mt. Hood Oregon, senior Aaron Konecny has gone snowboarding over thirty times in the 2013 Winter season. using his park-specific snowboard, Aaron’s favorite place to enhance his skills is at Stevens Pass. The pass provides full sized parks for him and his friends to hone in on their snowboarding abilities. His influence from skateboarding in years past has pushed him to take part in the trick side of skateboarding.
Aaron tends to make his trips with his brother Ryan, and/or his friends Chase Schoenbachler ‘15, Jaren Johnston ‘14, and Chase Trinidad ‘15. To prepare for the winter seasons Aaron follows a strict exercise routine to sustain a physical form that meets the demands of snowboarding. When he moved to Washington from Arizona, he decided to pursue and seize the opportunity of the powdered Rocky Mountains. “Snowboarding will be for life” said Aaron confidently.
Out of all of his experiences, his trip to Mt Hood, Oregon last Summer stands out above the rest. To get there, Aaron and friends endured an everlasting road trip to the hotel near the mountain, and made a last moment decision to go hot tubbing before their snowboarding session. Aaron continued to hike up the mountain, because the lifts during the summer were out of commission. Upon reaching the peak of the snow, he hiked for the feeling of “riding into the sunset in perfect weather”.
After dedicating a year of his time to it, Aaron knows the best part was watching the improvement and growth, as well as knowing that the progress will continue. Ever since the trip to Mt. Hood, Aaron has been looking forward to this 2014 Winter season. He is hoping to get sponsored from all of his hard work.
