The Arlington Eagles dominated in Everett Friday night, putting up a staggering 72 points in a game against the Seagulls, beating Everett by a final score of 72-30.

What made the Eagles’ win even more impressive was how they started off the game. The Eagles put up a solid seventeen points in the first quarter, but Everett was trailing by only two. However, led by seniors Jayla Russ–who, in the past three games, has amassed a total of 45 points-and speedster Serafina Balderas, the Eagles were able to pull away in the second quarter, leading by a score of  37-23.

The Eagles continued to power through in the second half, including a set of back-to-back three’s put up by Russ and senior Sevi Bielser. Sarah Shortt (’16) answered with a three of her own late in the third quarter, putting the Eagles up 54-27. The Seagulls would only score three more points after that, allowing Arlington to cruise to a 72-30 victory.

Olivia Larson (’16) also played another extremely physical game, as it appeared that she would swoop in from out of nowhere to steal the ball from the Seagulls on multiple occasions. Sophomore Peyton Brown also had a nice game, which included a pair of three’s, for a total of eight points on the night. And Shortt, who, after putting up 6 points in Wednesday night’s victory against Stanwood, scored 14 points against the Seagulls.

“We shot the ball very well,” said Shortt. “I thought we moved the ball great too.”
