Starbucks has debuted a line of cups that have been criticized for being “Anti-Christmas”

Recent controversy has erupted over Starbucks’ decision to feature a holiday cup that has been deemed “Anti-Christmas,”  but students at AHS do not seemed outraged by Starbucks’ decision.

“I just think it’s people kind of overreacting,” said junior Aysia Brenner. “It’s just Starbucks recognizing that not everyone celebrates Christmas. They’re just trying to be inclusive.”

Starbucks has featured its signature red cup during the holidays in the past, but they have always put  some sort of design on them. Previously, ornaments, snowmen, and snowflakes have adorned the cups.

“We have anchored the design with the classic Starbucks holiday red that is bright and exciting,” said Jeffrey Fields, Starbucks vice president of Design & Content.

With this year’s basic all-red design, some are outraged that the cup does not feature a Christmas-themed design. It is worth noting that the cup also does not feature any Hanukkah or Kwanza themed designs.

Senior Olivia Heyward agreed with Brenner, and thinks that there are more pressing problems in today’s world.

“It’s so stupid,” said Heyward. “There are so many other problems that we should focus on.”

Senior Hannah Chung said that she doesn’t understand why so many people are outraged, and echoed Heyward’s frustrations.

“People need to shut up and realize there are bigger problems in this world,” said Chung.
