Unsung Heroes-Volleyball
Sarah Mekelburg (‘19), middle blocker for Varsity Volleyball, was an asset to the team the whole season. Here is a little bit more about her:
Q. How do you feel your season went?
A. I went into this season trying to improve mentally and physically because it’s something I’ve struggled with in the past. I worked hard during the summer and throughout the season and left it all on the court whenever I played!
Q. What is your best skill?
A. Blocking, it’s something that I have worked really hard on and I ended up being a leader in stats for total blocks this year for wesco.
Q. How do you think this benefited the team?
A. Well, during games I did my best to stop hits coming from our opponents and shut down their offense, so that we could get the ball and win the point. It’s really a team effort though, we all have to work together and make the right decisions on the court.
Q. What do you like most about volleyball?
A. I’ve been playing volleyball since 2nd grade and I have always loved the bond I create with my team. Every season you get to be so close with your teammates, it’s like a little family.
Q. How far do you want to go with volleyball?
A. It would be so cool to play for college, but I think I’m going to finish out my senior year next year and then I’ll be done.
