A Shakeup For Football

Tucker Bovard (18) embodies the teams attitude with his sheer determination

Recently there has been an incident in football that has shaken up the dynamic for the whole team. They have lost a number of players due to various reasons, and it has some people worried for the future of the football team here at Arlington High School. There is talk of the code of conduct and if it is too stringent. But the athletic director Mr. Roys said that there is a zero tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol and that it is in place to help the people who have a problem and need it. It is not, however, in place to punish the people who do it, but help the students affected.

However, Coach Hunter gave us a few reassuring words to calm our nerves. His goals for the team haven’t changed at all, calling it  just a “next man in” sort of situation, and has no worries. He pointed out the big game with Oak Harbor on October 20 and he requests our support for the team. Getting a win out of this game would solidify the 2nd place spot for the Wesco North League. They plan to battle it out and hopefully get a win for Arlington.

If the loss of players has impacted the team at all, it seems to be the positive. Brantley Stupey (’18) pointed out that that if anything has happened it “brought the team together”. With the new sophomores taking the place of the players we lost, there is a fire lit underneath of them to play up to the standards of who we lost. Anyone that was approached with the question of if the goals for the team are different shot back the exact same answer. They all keep a positive attitude and push forward with the goal of going as far as they can go. The football team pushes forward and keeps battling on. With the same never die attitude and the crowds support they could definitely go all the way to, as Stupey would say, “the dome”.
