Cheer Season So Far

When some people hear the word “cheer” and the word “sport”, they don’t clump the two together. For years cheerleaders all over the country have faced adversity in the realm of sports; people always claiming that they aren’t real athletes because they don’t participate in things like the Olympics or have leagues known across the world such as the NFL, NBA or MLB. But, our cheerleaders at Arlington High School disagree.

This past fall quarter was a huge one for our cheerleaders; through the rain and shine Arlington’s cheerleaders stood and cheered our way to victory throughout the season helping our varsity football players get to playoffs on Friday Nov. 3. At each game they all kept everyone’s spirits up, even if we didn’t play the best game.

Throughout the season the boys have played a long and hard season but the cheerleaders have stood their right by them through thick and thin. In one instance, on Oct. 20, the varsity football team went into triple overtime in the pouring rain; we ended up losing the game but in the end the cheerleaders stood by our football players sides, doing exactly their jobs; to cheer.

Next time you go to a sports game here at Arlington High School make sure to cheer on our cheerleaders. They’re a huge part of why everyone who goes to a game has such an enjoyable time.
