Eagles Remain Undefeated After Wild Shootout
The Arlington Eagles faced off against the Snohomish Panthers in a Friday Night Lights shootout at John C. Larson stadium. The game was close from the beginning, and continued to be throughout the game. From the start of the game, there was a sense that lots of offense was going to be needed to get the win. Senior quarterback Andrew Kalahar could be heard on the sideline predicting the game during the first quarter. “It’s starting to feel like a shootout,” said the Senior Quarterback for Arlington. At the half, Snohomish held a slim 27-24 lead, while both offenses kept firing. The passing games of both teams combined for 989 yards of total offense. Kalahar threw for 441 yards, just 7 yards short of the school record. He threw for 5 touchdowns, with 4 of those going to senior wide receiver, Donovan Sellgren. Sellgren ended the night with 8 catches for 275 yards and 4 touchdowns.
The shootout continued into the second half. In the end, Kalahar’s passing out shined that of Kob McDaniel, quarterback for Snohomish, who threw for 279 yards, including 3 touchdowns. Arlington pulled out the win, 45-35, starting their season off right with a 2-0 record and showing great promise for their offensive capabilities.
Looking ahead to next week, the Eagles look to keep their undefeated record in tact, but face their season’s biggest obstacle, Eastside Catholic. Look for the Eagles to try to use speed to their advantage and focus on end zone passes to Sellgren in an attempt to pull off the upset.
