Senior Presentation Sorrows
With Spring Break so close Arlington High School students can nearly see the sunshine on their vacations, a lot of people are slowly starting to mentally check out of school. However for those seniors that are presenting on the March 24th presentation date, Spring Break may be the last thing on their mind. Despite the presentation standards changing, seniors are still fretting because all of their work over the last four years is compiled into one final presentation in front of a panel of teachers, administrators, and community members.
“I present on March 24th and I haven’t even started my binder,” said one senior who preferred to be left anonymous. “The date snuck up on me when I was preoccupied thinking about Spring Break.” The seniors who haven’t even begun thinking of getting their binder and getting their presentation together may be starting to feel the heat. While there still is time left before the March 24th deadline, there’s not much.
While there are the procrastinators, there’s also the overachievers who have had their binder done for months. Emily Beaton ‘15 has had her binder and presentation completed since the end of January. And unlike most seniors, Beaton isn’t nervous about her final presentation. “The practice one was really hard for me because I’m bad at talking in front of my peers. I’m excited to talk for the real one because I can talk to adults much easier,” said Beaton. “I thought the whole binder and getting your presentation put together was simple and easy.”
For others, nerves may be hitting sooner. “I’m already getting a little nervous and I don’t present until April. I’m really bad at talking in front of people,” said Haley Gonzales ‘15. Even though the nerves of the actual presentation may or may not hit depending on the person, it’s safe to say all seniors have at least some worries.
