After weeks searching for an advisor, Key Club is officially back! Working hard after losing 2 advisors, officers have searched high and low to find someone to fill the place.
With Key Club being a primarily student run club, officers and members do most, if not all of the heavy lifting. So you would think finding an advisor would be an easy task. But it wasn’t. Members are ecstatic for the new start that key club is bringing and are making moves to become reestablished.
“We’re going to start doing stuff in the announcements and putting up posters to recommend it, post on Instagram, get it reposted on the ASB account, emailing freshmen who signed up last year and just kind of like making sure people know that we exist and make people want to come.” president, Ashlyn Huling (’26) said.
Key club tends to catch the interest of students who want to be involved and help their community. With that, there are so many other benefits as well, such as meeting new people and attending fun events.
“I’ve been a member since sophomore year. And I really enjoy community service and helping out the community. And also meeting new people that also serve that same dedication to helping the community… I’m [also] excited for Key Club to come back up because I can go to events such as DECON. And also there’s another event called Key Club Day North. Which, typically every year we go to Wild Waves, the theme park” member Desiree Cook (’26) said.
Key club is an international service organization for students around the world. Being open to anyone who wants to help out is a big part of its appeal. Many students and staff feel as though it is an important club to have because of the opportunities it offers to high school students and how it helps the community.
“ One particular thing I like about it is that it’s open to a lot of students. It’s not dependent on GPA, but it tends to draw students who really want to get involved and serve their community and make a difference.” advisor, Elizabeth Sullivan said.
