AMPED math classes – not what you think it is.
There’s more to it than just math.
What do you think when you hear the term AMPED math class? Did you think something like a harder math class or along those lines? AMPED is actually an acronym. It stands for Algebra 1 in Manufacturing Processes, Entrepreneurship, and Design. It is mainly a math class, but it also focuses on the CTE side of math, as well as touching on topics in DECA, shop, business, manufacturing, and entrepreneurship.
“So, what exactly does this class have in-store?”
This class is actually a two part class: Algebra 1 and CTE.The class teaches all the same Algebra standards, except that it links it more toward the business side of math, such as profit, cost, and revenue. But the class can shift more toward the CTE side of learning. They do a lot of woodwork and shop. They sometimes do Manufacturing and work with machines. Some examples include transfers and heat presses, were they make things such as t-shirts and vinyl covers. They also work with laser engraving as well. Due to this class’s two sided nature, at the end of the year you could earn yourself both your Algebra 1 credit and 1 CTE credit.
“Okay, but how do I know if this class is right for me?”
That falls onto many factors. This class would be good for you if you like hands-on learning. You might be interested if you’re into engineering or if it was one of your stronger subjects, as it will help improve your skills. This class will also be helpful if you ever want to become an entrepreneur.
This class certainly is a lot more interesting than what it sounds like. Not much is really known about this class. It’s actually a class that combines normal everyday math with engaging technical and mechanical work that will benefit students in the future. So if you ever think about looking into this class, you should. It will be a real neat experience.
