A Tough Girls Team
Last Saturday, our cross country team competed at the league race. The girls team finished placing 4th overall. Emma Janousek placed 7th and Grace Castanada placed 12th. This meet determines who moves on to the bi district race, which then decides who moves on to state. Cassidy, Marie, Emma, Grace, Shanelle, Sidney, Lizzie, Rachel, and Katelynn were all the qualifiers from Arlington. Emma said they “definitely want to and [they] have a good chance this year” to go to state. Additionally, Grace said, “I think that we are going to be in the top five, and that we’re going to be crying at the finish line.” Their biggest competition is Jackson, Snohomish, and a few Kinco teams. Running miles upon miles requires a certain diet: carb loading. For breakfast, Grace and Emma eat oatmeal, toast, bacon, eggs, orange juice, and vitamins the day of a race. For dinner, they eat spaghetti, lots of bread, and even some ice cream the night before a race. By putting months of hard work in, these girls are expected to do very well this weekend and the next at state.
