The second week of school (Sept 7-13) brought us some great things, one was the first full week of school and classes. Two is a full week of Arlington High School sports. With games all throughout the days, here’s your recap and statistical highlights of each match up.
Up first, volleyball had two games this week on Sept 8 and 10. They went one and one beating Meadowdale 3-1, whilst losing at Stanwood 0-3. Next week they will face off against Snohomish High school on Sept 16, as well as Cascade High School on Sept 18. Looking to keep their spirit and stay highly ranked in the district. JV however flipped sides as they beat Stanwood 2-1, but lost to Meadowdale 0-3.
Cross country headed to Civic Stadium to face off against 46 other schools in their first major event of the year. In the senior girls 2-mile, Raelyn Oaetzel placed seventh, but that wasn’t enough to put them in the top ten. As for the senior boys, they took second in the 2-mile as Caden Mace stood out as the leader for Arlington taking 18th place. The junior girls took third place with a score of 102 led by Anabelle Klein who took third as well. The junior boys however took fifth, with Joshua Nguyen taking 18th. They head to McCollum Park on Sept 17, looking for some more steps in the right direction.
Girls soccer gets their first win of the season against Cascade High school 6-0. Although on Sept 9, they lost to Stanwood 2-3. They then took another loss, traveling to Lynden with a final score of 0-1. The girls will be heading to Meadowdale High School on Sept 16. The JV girls mirrored varsity beating Cascade 8-0, but losing to Stanwood 2-3.
Boys tennis had decent week as well having one win and two losses. On Sept 8 they played Cascade High school, but got swept 0-7. They then bounced back beating Meadowdale 5-2, but fell once again losing at Lake Stevens 1-6. Next week is full for the Eagles as they fight to get their first Conference win(s) as they play Kamiak, Everett, Jackson, and Glacier Peak.
Last but not least the football team took on the Bothell Cougars. Last year, in what was sure to be the game of the year, Arlington came out victorious in the final seconds. However, that barn burner seemed to have fueled the fire for the Cougars, as they pulled away in the win 7-30. The Eagles move to 0-2 on the young season, with Jackson heading into John C. Larson stadium on Sept 19. On Sept 8, the JV football team pulled out a 20-6 victory over Sedro-Woolley on their home territory.
That’s it for the weekly recap, keep showing up for your AHS Athletes Eagle students, and Athletes keep working hard. Go Fight Win!!!
