The Arlington High school girls tennis season starts after months of waiting. It’s finally spring time and these girls are ready for a new and great season.
In her third season of high school tennis junior Jaden Johnson said ¨after playing tennis for over three years now, I would have to say my favorite part is the the physical challenge that comes with being a tennis player, as well as the social interactions that are made into being apart of a tennis team.” Johnson isn’t the biggest fan of her tennis season being in the spring time because at the end of the season all it does is rain and sometimes she and her team have to practice in the gym.
Loving how close the girls tennis team is, junior Audrey Marsh said “I think the tennis team is super close because we all support each other. It is a very individual sport but we all take the time to individually spend time with each other and get to know each. As well as practice with each other and cheer everyone on, we are all very supportive of one another.”
Marsh has been playing tennis since her freshman year and her sophomore and junior year she has made it onto varsity. Marsh thinks the start of tennis season is always nerve wracking activities including, trying out, meeting new people and more. But in the end she always thinks this season was better than the last.
As its her first year being on the the tennis team, Kara Glassman said “the best part about game day so far is actually being able to play a full game and being competitive, also the bus ride there and home with my friends it’s always full of laughter, and honestly good vibes all around.” Although it is Glassman’s first year playing tennis, she is enjoying it and ready for what the season is going to bring her.
During tennis season all the girls are excited to start their season and how it’s going to go. But nerves come with being part of a sport as senior Aleah Barnett said, ¨I think right before playing a game everyone’s nerves are super high but all you have to do is just feel as confident as possible and just remember what you have been practicing for.¨
