Arlington High School has many sports to offer. All throughout the school year in different seasons there are sports for everyone. Some may say trying a new sport in high school can be discouraging, but others may say that it’s fun and full of new experiences.
Many kids play sports for their whole life, year round, or for their high school. This can give them an advantage when it comes to trying out. However, that shouldn’t stop anyone from trying out for something new, exciting and most definitely fun.
“I tried out for basketball, I worked hard and I struggled a bit, and I didn’t make it. I learned that I didn’t try hard enough to achieve my goals, so next season I will definitely try harder,” said Edward Bats (9).
Trying out new sports at the high school level can be hard when you’re competing against kids that have been playing for a long time, but that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to play on the team.
“It’s really hard to keep up with the girls because they do play all year round. And I just played for three months but I had a lot of fun,” said Kailey Bisson (12).
Sports help with a lot of life skills, communication, courage, leadership but most importantly sports allow you to hang out with your friends while learning.
“My friends push me to get better, I tried something new, did tournaments, duals and made new friends,” said Diesel Coons (9).
Sports should be a part of everyone’s high school experience. You learn so much, work through hard things, find the value of a team. It’s never too late in your high school career to try out for a sport.
¨I played with all of the other seniors throughout all of my elementary school and middle school time, and I love them very much, and they all convinced me to come back just for my senior year,” said Bisson.
