Arlington vs MP Cross Country Recap
Today, March 3, Arlington cross country had their first official meet against Marysville Pilchuck on a 3 mile course at the Arlington Airport. The weather was sunny for the runners today which is a usually a rare occasion for a fall sport.
In the first race of the day Arlington JV boys and JV girls runners raced against one another for some teammate against teammate competition resulting in some fast times and even some PR’s. Junior, Jadon Chestnut finished first in this race closely followed by his sophomore teammate Kellen Langford. Nothing like some teammate rivalry to get those times! The top 3 JV girls from today were all freshman finally getting to participate in their long awaited first high school meet.
The next race was the varsity girls, in which junior Sophie Gaudin came in first with a 20:20. The Arlington varsity girls swept the first 3 spots in today’s meet ultimately leading them to victory. First year participant, junior Sophia Cushman finished in second followed by sophomore Jaiden Cochran in third.
Last but not least the varsity boys wrapped up the meet with a total sweep, taking the top 7 spots in the race even with 2 of their varsity athletes, Aiden Emerson and Ryan Rushton out with injuries. Senior Vincent Loftis took the top spot with a time of 14:50 staying consistent with his recent 5k PR of 15:02. The varsity boys overall had a spread of just short of 3.5 min.
In the end, Arlington took their first win of the season for all teams. Things are looking good for the Eagles.
