Graduation Emotions

As the end of the year approaches quickly, seniors tend to start getting anxious for graduation. Throughout the year, the closer the end of the year gets, the senioritis will kick in more and more with each month that passes by. When a senior gets senioritis, they begin to lose the “energy” to do any work, and begin to slowly just stop doing anything school related. It’s guaranteed that since we have such a short time left, 2 months, senioritis is almost in full effect. Not to mention, graduation is just around the corner, and every senior has different feelings about graduation. Many could be happy and scared at the same time, nervous and excited and so many other emotions can take place.

Morgan Hill’s feelings about graduation quickly approaching are “ I am ready to get the heck out of here”. When it comes to senioritis for Morgan, she states she has it in “1st and 6th period and the only thing I can do to deal with it is to just come to school”.

Another graduating student from the class of 2014 is Courtney Buffon. When asked how she is feeling about the quick approach of graduation, she states, “I am excited and am ready to get out of here”! Out of all the class of 2014 students, Courtney is one of the many that haven’t got senioritis yet.

Some of the teachers that have senior students, have answered to the question of how do you think senioritis has affected the seniors this far into the year? Mr. Schilaty’s response was “ I think that if they are already accepted into a college, then they just have to be able to get the credit. Plus, I feel it is just a natural instinct that is done when seniors get this close to graduation”. Mr. Schilaty is one of the government teachers, so he has seen the senioritis affects.

When senioritis takes affect this close to graduation, then “ it challenges students’ motivation and focus. Few are forgetting that they have to finish and pass the course in order to get the credit” stated the Mass Media teacher Mr. Ford.

When you have senioritis or are having mixed feelings about graduation, all you can do is look forward to it. Senioritis is hard to beat, but if you can stay focused, then you should be fine. But graduation, feelings of anxiousness, nervousness, and excitement are pretty normal to experience this close to the time being.
