Let’s Get Stuffed
Thanksgiving is a time to spend with the people you care the most about and to make memories while eating delicious food. Dating back to the 1600s when the pilgrims voyaged over from England to Virginia, throughout time, people have focused in giving thanks but over time, their focus has shifted towards the deals and sales that happen on “Black Friday”. Three students at Arlington, they still do some shopping; but their main focus is all on family.
Emily Harris (’19) spends Thanksgiving dinner at a different location every year, but it is always at a family member’s house with her family because “they are cool people”. After eating her favorite plate of stuffing since she only gets to eat it that day, she doesn’t hesitate to start on her Christmas list since the next day turns into “Litmas”.
Harris says that she doesn’t go Black Friday shopping because, “The crowds are too annoying or I’m working.” This is the most case for people who don’t go shopping since the crowds get very intense and wild due to everyone wanting the best deals.
Everyone in Kyla Hunsinger’s (’21) family always looks forward to her mom’s fruit salad. Staying at home and having about 20 family members over, Hunsinger thinks that Thanksgiving is the time to spend it with family and getting to see them if you haven’t seen them in a while.
“This sounds cheesy, but I am most thankful for my family” Hunsinger stated.
To Tagen Taylor (’18), Thanksgiving is meant for “living life” and eating good food while hanging out with family. Hopefully he doesn’t have to deal with bad traffic while he goes down south to his aunt’s house for dinner. This year, Taylor plans on going to the Outlet Mall on Black Friday to go birthday shopping.
Now that Thanksgiving is done with, it is time to bring out the Christmas decorations and start singing holiday carols.
