Break Plans
Winter break, one of the most anticipated breaks besides summer break. The free food, giving others a present, the time spent with family and all of the traditions from over the years. Everything a person could want wrapped up into a couple of weeks.
Family and the celebration of Christmas are two of the largest focuses of the break and the first things that come to mind when the question of “what are you doing over break?”
Sophomore Pharaoh George uses the time to reunite with his dad and do what he enjoys the most. “I am going to Seattle to visit my dad because it will be Christmas and I don’t see him that often. In breaks in the past I have mostly played video games, watched tv and played around on facebook because that is what I love doing.”
Senior Elizabeth Kern spend time with her direct family and has a couple of family traditions that are made for bonding. “I will be going to over to my great aunt’s house for christmas and we are going to open presents with our closest family, its a family tradition. Another tradition includes making a tea ring for breakfast. We make caramels and spritz and just a lot of cookies in general as well. We also have a real tree that we set up the day after Thanksgiving every year. It pretty much all stays the same. We go to my great aunts house every year for another one of our traditions. We play a lot of games and we have christmas dinner there.”
This isn’t how every family works though.
Junior Abigail Quaglia likes to camp out in her house and spend the time being alone and relaxing. “Almost every year I stay at home, eat a lot, watch TV, and play video games because that is what I enjoy doing the most. Winter break is awesome because I get presents, good food, and I am not required to do anything.”
Of the people interviewed, if you aren’t going to a family members house then you are chilling out and relaxing. Any way that you might go about your break, there’s anticipation in the air for the time that we don’t have to spend at school.
