Our Future Generations
Tons of clubs and organizations make up our school. Leadership, responsibilities, community involvement, respect, and social are just a few of the lifelong skills you can gain through being a part of one of Arlington High School’s clubs. One of these clubs that highly portray many of these qualities is FBLA, or Future Business Leaders of America.
Beyond the obvious business related, FBLA has several key events they participate in. “We are in technology, which focuses on computer related websites. Job Interviews, Marketing, and Finance related accounting,” Mrs. Douglas says. As a club, they work on both the business side of succeeding economically, but also sales and getting and retaining clients through good customer service.
As of now, they have only had a few meetings where they began dividing events for future competitions between members of the club and also voting on the 2013-14 FBLA officers. For President, there is Kolton Ford. Vice President is Kaitlyn Meissner, Kali Allen for Secretary, and both Felicia Timmerman and Eric Simpson for Treasurer.
Currently, the team is preparing for the first competition, which is in February. The top 5 go on to compete at State level, which will be in May in downtown Seattle. “We are also hoping to do a couple community service project possibly at Everett Animal Shelter! Some big college visits also fit into our plans for the near future,” Douglas explains.
As Douglas is pretty new to being an advisor to the group, they are trying out some new routes for FBLA for this school year. If business is something you are interested in for the future, this club is great for you. As of now, the club hasn’t set up a specific time they will be meeting each month, but by joining they will be able to set it up and begin a regular schedule and begin molding Future Business Leaders in our very own school.
