An Early Alarm Clock for Arlington Students
At approximately 1:40 a.m. on May 7th, several students in the Arlington vicinity were shaken awake by a 3.7 magnitude earthquake just north of the city.
Some students slept right through it, and others were rudely awoken by the rocking of their beds.
Connor Ghirardo ’15 said “I woke up in a fight or flight mode. It took me 5 minutes to calm down”. Soon after, Ghirardo came to a realization of “not knowing what was going on”.
Lauryn Baker ’18 “felt scared” when her “bed started moving and a deep rumbling noise that sounded like a whale” presented itself.
Although a particular student experienced a true sense of fear when Grace Ziegler ’16 believed she “felt [her] house shake, along with [her] bed too”. Afraid of a burglary, she contacted her brother, although the situation was a mere earthquake. “I’ve never actually felt an earthquake before” said Ziegler.
Although the magnitude of this earthquake was nothing compared to the devastation that Nepal faced in their 7.8 earthquake on April 25th, those that live in the Bryant area were sure to feel the quakes produced.
