Ten Ways to Practice Self-Love: Part 1
“You, yourself, as much as anybody else in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” ~Buddha
You are an individual who deserves love and respect from others.
More importantly, though, is the love and respect you give to yourself.
By giving yourself the self-love that you deserve, you are making an effort to make your world and your life a better place.
Here are 5 / 10 ways to improve self-love in your daily life:
1) Positives thoughts and actions can improve your mindset
The moment a negative thought arises the best way to handle it is to just accept that the negative thought has appeared. Once you accept that you are putting yourself down, you can recognize that you are treating yourself poorly and begin to turn the negative thoughts into positive ones. Start to appreciate the parts you like about your mind, body, and soul and keep them in perspective. Replacing the criticism you have of yourself with positive encouragement can help improve your self-esteem and well-being. By taking the initiative to replace the negative with the positive, you are taking the first step.
2) Have patience with yourself
In order to grow, you must recognize that you are a creature that deserves love and understanding. Each and every one of us is on a unique journey, and remembering that we all take time to grow allows us to recognize that growth takes time and patience. Once we are able to take the time to let our mind be – as it is – we will reach our full potential.
3) Be grateful for who you are and what you bring to the world
“When you’re grateful for the things you have, no matter how small they may be, you will see those things instantly increase” – Rhonda Byrne
Be thankful for your body – It provides you with the ability to move, breathe, and live. Doesn’t it seem quite awful to not give it love for all it does for you? You are so wonderfully important and clever: and no one on Earth is exactly like you are, so be grateful for what you bring to the table. You are appreciated by the universe and you are here to express who you are. Refrain from criticizing and instead, be kind to yourself.
4) Don’t compare yourself
You are you, it is as simple as that. Do not bring yourself down with comparisons, lift yourself up by recognizing the places where you succeed. Don’t focus on what you believe to be your downfalls, just focus on what you do well, and improve on the areas where you feel you don’t do well.
5) Get in touch with your emotions and body
Embrace the way you feel, think, and believe. Sometimes your thoughts and feelings may be illogical, but they are valid. Find ways to get in touch with yourself and learn new ways to handle when times are tough and celebrate when times are good. Pay attention to how your body feels in relation to your emotions and keep ways to relax yourself in mind.
