Coaches VS Cancer
On January 30th, Arlington High school hosted the annual Coaches vs Cancer game. The Eagles competed with the Oak Harbor Wildcats for the win, but both teams were there to fight against cancer. Before the game started, multiple honorary coaches were named. One of which was Laura Zachman, who is currently battling with the disease. One of the most touching moments of the night was when Laura’s son Tim Zachman ’16 got the ball in the final minutes and made a 3. Zachman is a swing player for the Eagles from JV to Varsity, but Coach Brown and Zachman’s teammates all wanted to make sure he could score on this important night for his family and community.
In regards of the game, the Eagles took the lead early on with the score at the end of the 1st Quarter being 16-6. In the second quarter, the Wildcats tried to come back, thus closing the gap to 23-18 by the half.By the end of the 3rd Quarter, the Arlington Eagles ran away with a 42-28 lead. In the end, the Arlington Eagles not only beat the Wildcats 60-44 but also raised money to help battle cancer. Junior Guard, Donovan Sellgren, lead the Eagles with his great speed and timely 3s to shut down the Wildcats hopes of coming back. All in all, it was a successful night for the Eagles and for the fight against Cancer. Arlington got the win and brought the community together for a noble cause.
