A Game that was on the Line
Last Tuesday, January 27th, the Arlington Boys Basketball team took on Marysville Pilchuck in a cross town rivalry. The last time the teams met the game slipped away in the final tenth of a second making it on a sports center top ten episode. This last Tuesday was just as intense. After the first quarter, the game was a close 12-11 score in favor of MP. After constant lead changes and many free throws, the game came down to the last of regulation time. Nathan Aune drove in and got the foul called so he could shoot 2 to tie the game. After making both shots the crowd erupted with cheers. Arlington made a shot to try and win in the final seconds but couldn’t get it to drop. They went into overtime. In the stressful 4 minutes of OT, Marysville Pilchuck managed to pull away and win the game 64-59. Both teams struggled with fouls, leading to an abundance of free throws that MP was able to capitalize on. Because of the Foul trouble, MP had 2 players foul out. However, their rested bench players were able to help keep their rushing momentum. This was a hard fought game by both teams, and shows how the AHS and MP rivalry is not going away any time soon.
