Juggling daily activities as a high school student can be tricky, so finding the balance between work and play is a big part of most students’ schedules.
Taking the stress of everyday classes and adding APs, jobs, sports, friends, and everyday life, can take a toll on the mental health of anyone but especially teenage students. Putting in place set routines is not always easy, especially for a teenager, but can be very beneficial in the long run.
“ When I get home I take some time to rest, roughly an hour or so to do whatever I want… Next I start working on my homework, taking breaks every once in a while. “ Khang Tran (11) said.
Balancing work and school takes up a lot of time for most upper class men. Carving out a set plan on how to achieve everything can help you not over stress and finish everything you need to do.
“After school I’ll work from like 3:30 to 8:30…[And after] I usually just like to eat first, like a lot. I’ll take a shower. And then by then it’ll be like 9:30, 10. And then I’ll do homework for like two hours, depending on how much I have.” Noah Berry (12) said.
Staying focused and on top of your work can be a hard task but with the right mindset, schedule, and people around you, you can accomplish anything. Prioritizing the things that you have to do over the things you want to do helps drive a great schedule versus a just okay one.
“[I] just get dinner and do my homework at the same time and then just quickly shower and go to bed as soon as I can. Sometimes you just have to ask for help and get help from others. It’s also just having accountability and being able to do your stuff knowing that you have something to do.” Kenna Langford (10) said.
