A day in the life of a journalist can be fun, exciting, stressful and rewarding at different times. There are so many classes to choose from and what class you are in can change the way your day looks.
Journalism I, is a class you have to take before being able to take any other of the journalism classes. Journalism II is the class that publishes stories and videos on the eagle news website: @theAHSeagle. The yearbook class is the group of kids who produce the school yearbook every year.
“I’m in first period Online News Media, fourth period Yearbook, and then fifth period I TA for Hayman and a typical day for me varies based on the class and the kind of deadline that we’re in,” Chloe Falk (‘25) said.
Each class gives different things to look forward to and expect to do throughout the day.
“We usually start working on notes if we need to learn more about a specific topic or we usually do a fun project like right now we’re working on getting a folder of a video and photos of a specific topic, so that’s a lot of work, but it’s fun at the same time,” Sam Marsh (‘28) said.
This class is a chance to express yourself creatively in ways that connect to others, but that can also be stressful based on your role.
“It’s very difficult for me as an editor because I’m given the same amount of work that all of the regular students have. I have to go through the website and read everyone else’s stories,” Falk said.
Even if you are in one class, if one is done with all of your work you are able to help out with other classes as well.
“My favorite thing to do in Journalism is take pictures for the yearbook because it helps me get out of school,” Emma Starup (‘28) said. “Also it’s just fun to capture people doing the things that they love.”
