On April 22nd, 23rd, 29th, and 30th Arlington will be trying out a new testing schedule. What exactly is our new schedule going to look like? How will this affect bus schedules? And will this new block schedule work better than the old testing schedule?
The new testing schedule will look a little different to our old schedule, Assistant Principal Denise Eichler said, “The test will run over a course of four days total instead of ten days total like in the past. It will be a block testing schedule as the test will be held during a block period of time in the morning instead of throughout the day in all classes.”
With a block period for testing in the morning how will this affect students who aren’t testing? Eichler said, “Every student will be assigned a particular location to go and we will be hosting a variety for freshman juniors and seniors.”
Although what about buses? Buses will still be running at the same time as normal and will bring students to the school where these events are taking place. For students that do not take the bus there will be a delayed start until 10:00 AM for students not taking the test. Although for students testing that day they will still be expected to be here at 8:00.
Why did we switch though? Eichler explains, “Mostly we made these changes because the loss of instructional time it was evidenced in the past model of testing students in the classroom lost instructional time when they had to proctor the test.”
