With the recent sunny and warm days, people are finding new ways to go outside and get some sunshine. With multiple activities taking place, the change in cloud coverage has a positive impact on students.
“ A lot of girls have a habit of complaining when it’s cold and especially when it’s raining, myself included sometimes. When it’s sunny or just nicer it’s very mellow and productive,” Khloey Marshall (12), a softball player at AHS, said.
When the sun came out, spring sports that had previously been practicing inside were able to transition to their regular fields.
“Indoors everything is smaller and more fundamental and outdoors we have more game-like practices,” Marshall said. “When it’s raining or bad weather, it tends to make people want to get it over with and makes it less fun sometimes. While sunny or nice, everyone wants to be there.”
While sports may be prepared to adjust their practice based on the weather, walking class goes out rain or shine.
“I think it was just a lot nicer to go outside and it was a lot more I guess encouraging to actually try and not just stay in the back of the not try,” Violet Smith (9) said.
There is a noticeable difference in morale and motivation in the class when the weather changes. Though they may be used to overcast and rain, the positivity increases when the sun is out.
“I think that the sun just makes you happier because it’s just warmer outside,” Smith said.
The sun brought a lot of hope to those who are impacted by weather daily, however, students that work inside may not see it as a big deal.
Wyatt Britt (10) works as a dishwasher at the airport. Britt was working when Arlington got hit with the pocket of sunshine.
“I worked [when it was sunny]. The weather doesn’t bother me. Every day is the exact same thing. I kinda like it,” Britt said.
