The TikTok ban has sparked significant debate and controversy, as governments around the world grapple with concerns over data privacy and national security. This move has not only affected millions of users but also raised questions about the balance between technological innovation and regulatory oversight.
Junior Noah Climacosa had some opinion on the TikTok and he said “This rumor of TikTok getting banned makes me feel really anxious because if it’s true then I basically have no life as I use TikTik almost everyday. I enjoy TikTok very much because I like to post about my life. It’s a way to let people know what’s going on in my life and I can share many adventures I have within TikTok.”
The New York Times has been really invested in the ban and this is what they had to say “worried that China could use TikTok’s content recommendations to fuel misinformation, a concern that escalated in the United States after the start of the Israeli-Hamas war and during the presidential election. Critics say TikTok has fueled the spread of antisemitism.”
The TikTok ban did go through on Sunday night 1/19/25 it went black and gave everyone a notification about how it was banned and hopefully it was going to be back in the works soon. The next morning people woke up and the TikTok was back. All over the internet people were complaining about the ban. According to NBC NEWS “Trump was the reason tik tok came back because he was brought into office, and his main goal as soon as he stepped into office was to bring TikTok back online.”
