Every school year, one of the things students look forward to most is Spring break. All over the country, in all school levels K-12, spring break occurs. Now not all of them are the same. Some are a week, some are 2. Some happen as soon as spring starts, some don’t. At Arlington High School, spring break is one week long, April 1-7..
Junior, Delfino Grimaldo says his break isn’t all that interesting. This year Grimaldo said “I don’t have any plans this year except soccer practices all week.” And it isn’t just this year, he says that last year he did the exact same thing for spring break. This is typical for students involved in spring sports.
Junior, Larry Bowen said “I am going to Destin Florida with a bunch of people.” This is exciting for Bowen because last year he stayed home and didn’t go anywhere fun. I also asked Bowen what he would like changed about spring break, and he said “I wish it was a little longer. Some schools are longer so I don’t see why we can’t be.”
When interviewing Senior Taylor Haugen about her spring break plans, she told me she is going on a big trip to Guatemala. When I asked her why she chose Guatemala, she told me “I am going to a church for mission work.” This is a unique trip because most people go on a fun vacation for break, but Haugen chose to go somewhere for mission work. Just like Junior Larry Bowen, Haugen says that she wished spring break was also 2 weeks long.
