Arlington Wins Big In Home Finale

The Arlington Boys Basketball team came out in droves as they dominated Oak Harbor on Senior Night

It was a special night for the eight seniors on our star studded roster. We got a display of homage for our Arlington Cheer squad and the three senior cheerleaders got an emotional dedication in their last home basketball game in their high school career. The game started slow for the Eagles, but they picked up the pace and went into the half up 34-24 after a very balanced performance all around.

The second half was when the boys really took off, especially freshman Ethan Martin who dropped his career high 19 points in the Eagles 79-54 victory over the Wildcats. He was a spark plug hitting three after three to the delight of the student section. We got to witness a ferocious slam from Josh Gutierrez, which i’m sure was made more meaningful as it could be his last dunk in a Arlington home game. However, as the game wound down, we got to see a sneak peak into Arlington’s bright future as the youngest members on the team featuring, Michael Tsoukalas, Ethan Martin, Ryan Brown, Joe Schmidt, and Quinton Yon Wagner took the court to close out the game. So almost fittingly we got to see a night meant to celebrate the fast four years, we ended it looking forward. A great passing of the torch for our fans to witness play out on the court.

This was a statement win for the Arlington after their tremendous dismantlement of Stanwood on the previous Friday. They remain second in wesco, only trailing the surging Marysville Pilchuck. This team is truly special, and as state roles around, we can only imagine the memorable send off these seniors will get as they play their final games for this basketball family.
