On September 17th, the varsity girls soccer team met their ultimate match. Defending their state championship title, Edmonds-Woodway brought their A-game.

The first half was a constant battle, the ball never staying on one side for more than 5 minutes. At the end of the half, the score was still 0 – 0.

During the second half, McKenna Landry (’16) took a shot on goal, but overshot. It wasn’t until the last 3 minutes of the second half that Edmonds-Woodway was able to snake a goal past Arlington goalkeeper, Kat Sanchez (’16).

Although shaken, the Arlington girls were able to get back up and charge with all their energy. Edmonds-Woodway went on to win the game, 1-0, but Arlington still kept their chins up.

The girls “played with heart,” said Davis. And although the team was riddled with injuries, “they stayed tough.”

Looking ahead to the next game, Coach Davis plans to work on creativity within the field while keeping pressure up front.
