A year ago, 10 students filled a room for the club Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and currently 40 people crowd a room every Wednesday morning. Students meet new people and talk about how God affects and impacts their lives in various ways at 7:25 am in room E104 every Wednesday.
Donuts and treats are available every meeting. Everybody is welcome. This club allows all to make a difference and show who they are in unique opportunities. The FCA president thinks FCA is a special club. “I think that we all strive to shine as a light for the rest of the school and represent our faith to the rest of our youth and of Arlington High School as a gathering of Christians and other believers and also people that are serious about Christianity with the goal of spreading the gospel and giving the gospel to every community,” Pierce Parsons (‘26) said.
Growth is a huge thing in life. It is one of the most important ways to change and accomplish what you’re aiming for. Pierce clearly thinks FCA is making those steps year after year.
“The fellowship that we all have of spreading Jesus throughout the school and then like compared to last year, we had maybe 10 people showing up to our meetings, but this year there’s over 40 people. We fill the room and it’s amazing to see Jesus work through the school.” Vice President Christopher Bydalek (‘26) said.
One of the concepts Bydalek was trying to get across was the club is trying to make a positive impact on the community of Arlington. Also that, the club lets you build personal traits like confidence by speaking to others about opinionated religious topics and still keeping your head up even when you get shut down.
The PR manager thinks others could propose FCA to people who haven’t come. “Just encourage them to come at least once so that they can at least get the idea and maybe get encouraged by others to start coming more and to learn about Christianity and what we live for and like what our goal is basically and just to make new friends,” Ellie Linklater (‘28) said.
FCA is still a developing club, and is learning ways to connect with people around the school. Many people have claimed that the previous members had made such a difference and built it from the ground. It seems like more milestones are to come while the club continues to grow.
“You don’t have to be an athlete just any way that you need Jesus, you can come to us, we have great messages. Even if you don’t care about Jesus just come, show up” Bydalek said.
